What is an eBook?
An eBook is a book which has been formatted
for reading on a computer. It can be just a few pages or a complete
novel. The most popular formats for eBooks are Microsoft Reader and
Adobe Reader (PDF). Other formats (e.g. .exe files) are also available
from other sources but lack the features and security of the above.
FreeandCheapEbooks .com does not
supply .exe files and all our eBooks have been virus checked using
quality anti-virus software.

What is the difference between
Micosoft Reader and Adobe Reader (PDF) formats?
Microsoft Reader format files are usually
much smaller than PDF files, therefore downloading is quicker and
the files take up less room on your hard-drive. A nice feature of
Microsoft Reader is that if they are all stored in My Documents\My
Library you can see a list of all the books you have in your library
as well as access any book from within any other book. Microsoft Reader
software is free to download from Microsoft.
Once the Reader software has been installed an eBook can be opened
by double-clicking on the file in Windows Explorer.
PDF format files can be read on either a PC or Mac computer. They
require Adobe Reader and can be opened simply by double-clicking on
the file in Windows Explorer. You probably already have Adobe Reader
installed on your computer. If not it can be downloaded free of charge
from Adobe. Adobe
Reader files can usually be printed if required but they are generally
larger than Microsoft Reader files and therefore take longer to download.
Both PDF and Microsoft Reader eBooks can be read aloud by your computer
if you have text-to-speech installed (free from Microsoft).
Please note Microsoft is no longer supporting Microsoft Reader creation
tools so our newer books are only available in PDF format.
Where should I store my eBooks
on my computer?
We recommend that you save your eBooks
in My Documents\My Library (or Documents\My Library if you are using
Microsoft Vista). If you are using Microsoft Reader format all your
eBooks will then be accessible from any eBook which you have open.
How do I open the zipped files?
Some of the larger eBooks have been zipped
for quicker download. You can open them with either Winzip
or most other file compression software. Download and install the
software then just double-click on the saved file in Windows Explorer
to unzip, or right-click on the file for other options.
Can I share my eBooks with
my family and friends?
When our eBooks are so cheap why give your
family and friends a reason to feel guilty? We are quite happy for
you to share the FREE eBooks and please recommend our website
so they can share the free downloads or find cheap eBooks that they
would also like to have.
